I remember walking at an alley, with a near experience of being bruised by the crushing crowd. The alley was alive, hectic; people moving pass each other, seeking things to buy for the afternoon and weekend. Others were busy bargaining, intensely, trying to get the best price. Everything in Bangkok is subjected to the art of negotiation; and are extremely skilled at it.
Despite the gradual decline of Thailand’s economy, the average folk sustains their livelihood at selling. A tough life, where rest is a luxury only for the elites. I spent hours observing, listening and talking to people » trying to understand the psyche of the poor, and those living in such hardship.
An impressive lot, indeed.
