Life is similar to a plateful of chips, when you are enjoying the food you will realize that it is never enough. Well, many things we value in life is limited, or at times just inaccessible.
Should we not detach ourselves from materialism?
Realistically no, as there are too many things that we need in order to continue our way of life, especially when there are others that depend on us for nourishment and basic needs. I live my life the best that I can, trying to minimize unnecessary expenditures, ridding the luxuries that would serve no real purpose except to delude myself in the illusion of happiness.
However often I find that basic needs such as water, shelter, electricity and others are offered at a price – seems nothing is free in life – and the ridiculousness of having to pay for clean drinking water, or struggle to pay for the electricity of my home.
At the end of the month, when my post box is filled with white envelops, I dread the day when I have to open them, and be confronted with the endless bills. Living a life in Malaysia is costly, and I am not talking about a luxurious life, but a simple one. If only these financial obligations would disappear as swiftly as the chips on the plate.
