Busy street vendors in Silom

Blog

The walk was refreshing. Won’t sleep comfortably without the nightly walks in one district or another. Bangkok. Despite the dwindling presence of tourists in Silom, the locals are still crowding about the shopping malls and street vendors especially at the start of a new month » when many would have just received their salaries.

Never failed to bore me, these walks across sections of congested traffic and the busy sidewalk. February had a marvellous weather, the evenings were cooling. The sea of bodies, squeezing past them and avoiding being partially crushed, was not that bad.

Street vendors offered a variety of watches, clothes, shoes, gadgets and food. Some with mobile carts, while many others merely placed a cloth on the pavement and openly displayed their wares.

A shopping paradise, of some sort.
